Designing for the extremes of life

Designing for the extremes of life

How can design be used to improve the quality of life for teenagers with schizophrenia? Kenneth will share stories from past projects on how to design for, and be inspired by, the extremes of life.

As designers, we can have an impact on many aspects of life, from creating delightful experiences to fundamentally improving people’s lives. We often strive to work at scale, reaching broad sets of users and situations. But how do we design for the edge cases of life, and people? The rare, whimsical, unexpected or unpleasant sides of our existence across levels of scale.

Kenneth is a Design Lead at IDEO in San Francisco. He focuses on humanizing technology across a wide range of domains, from integrated hardware and software products to entertainment and healthcare.
